Switch between jobs without losing your place.

Most timers make you stop one thing to start another, and the first job’s session ends there. TapSpan pauses it instead, keeps it waiting, and brings it back when you’re ready.

The practical problem

Interruptions are normal. A client calls, a colleague needs an answer, a different customer’s job suddenly becomes urgent. If your timer only knows one job at a time, you either leave it running on the wrong work or stop it and start a fresh session afterwards.

Either way, the record no longer matches what happened. Switching in TapSpan is designed so it does.

How it works

  1. Step 1: Pause

Pausing stops the clock. The screen then offers Resume, Switch and Finish in the same place every time.

  2. Step 2: Choose where to go

Pick another job, search, or start a new Quick Timer. Nothing starts until you confirm.

  3. Step 3: Work on the new job

The first job waits under Paused, its time frozen at the moment you left it.

  4. Step 4: Finish and return

When the interruption is saved, TapSpan offers to return to the job you left. Return opens it, ready to resume.

Small rules that keep the record honest

TapSpan is careful about what it does on your behalf. It never starts or resumes time you didn’t ask for.

  • Only one session records at a time
TapSpan won’t start a second session while one is running. Pause it first, then switch, so time is never counted twice.
  • Return doesn’t resume automatically
It brings the paused session back to the timer. You press Resume when you’re actually working again.
  • Resume existing or start new
If the job you switch to already has paused work, you choose whether to continue it or begin a separate session.
  • Several paused sessions
Pause as many as you need. The timer shows the most recent, with the full list a tap away.
